COSTA BLANCA NORTH
   
The Costa Blanca North has some breathtaking scenery and wonderful towns dotted along the coastline. The weather and climate in the  Costa Blanca is usually excellent. Due to the weather being hot and reliable The Costa Blanca has become a world-renowned tourist  destination for holiday makers.
 MORAIRA

Once a small fishing village, Moraira is now a picturesque coastal town popular amongst holiday makers looking for a tranquil and relaxing stay. It is situated between the larger resorts of Javea and Calpe. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains and has a coastline of fine sandy beaches. In the heart of the town is a marina surrounded by plenty of local bars, restaurants and shops. Due to strict planning laws the town has not been over developed and maintains much of its original characters. There are wonderful sandy beaches and coves to explore around Moraira which is ideal for water activities such as diving. The main sandy beach in the centre of the town, 'Playa la Ampolla' has views to Ifach Penon Rock of Calpe and is served by a bar/restaurant, public toilets and lifeguards during the summer. The other smaller beach is located in the very popular area of El Portet which also offers similar facilities.

Alicante airport is approximately 80km (1 hour) and Valencia airport is approximately 110km (1.5 hours) away from Moraira. There are excellent roads to the local towns of Denia, Javea, Calpe, Altea and Benidorm.

 JAVEA

Javea is one of the larger towns along the coast with 20 kilometre of coastline an stunning  scenery. It is split into three districts:

The Old Town - this is slightly inland and is traditionally Spanish with lots of local bars and restaurants.

The Fishing Port - this is still an active fishing port. Beside the fishing boats you will find yachts and motor boats. It is lined with bars and restaurants that cater for every requirement.

The Arenal Beach Front - the sandy, crescent shaped beach is lined with many bars and restaurants. You can dance the night away at many of the bars and clubs.It is a popular holiday destination for all age groups. In the summer you can enjoy many chiringuitos and beach parties.

There are a few beaches spread along the 20km coastline with the large beaches offering bars and restaurants. There are plenty of coves to enjoy snorkeling and diving as well as other water sports. The beaches are spotless and ideal for families.

Alicante and Valencia Airport is approximately a 1 hour drive each way with an excellent network of roads to Denia, Moraira, Calpe, Altea and Benidorm.

 CALPE

Calpe was once a small fishing village that over time has grown into a large town with the centre dominated by hotels and high rise apartments that line the sea front. It is a popular holiday resort for holiday makers offering a variety of bars, restaurants and shops.

The most prominent landmark is the 'Ifach de Penon' rock. This 332m high natural granite rock is in between the two main beaches of Calpe and extends for a kilometre out to sea. many tourists walk to the top where they are rewarded by breathtaking views.

The two sandy beaches on either side are lined with plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and clubs extremely popular with holiday makers. Playa de la Fossa has excellent facilities including several children's play areas, tennis court and bowling green. It has been awarded a Blue Flag. Most of the restaurants are geared towards Spanish tourist with plenty of cocktail bars. On the other side of the Penon is the rocky beach called Playa Cantal Roig which is near the Marina, this leads past the fish farms and Roman baths to the large sandy beach called Playa Arenal-Bol.

The famous fish market is to the right hand side of the rock. You can watch the fishing boats come in and buy the fresh fish at the daily afternoon auctions. As you can imagine Calpe has some of the finest fish restaurants in the area where you can select your food and wait for it to be cooked.

Calpe has a mixture of modern and old buildings. The old town hosts many fiestas and you will find some wonderful bars and restaurants. There is a street market every Saturday and Wednesday in the town.

Alicante airport is approximately 40 minutes and from Valencia airport approximately 148km (1hr37mins)

 ALTEA

Altea is one of the prettiest towns in the Costa Blanca with lots of character and traditional buildings. It is famous for the church Nuestra Senor del Consuelo or Virgen de Consuelo with its striking blue roof. Here you will take in breathtaking views across the coastline and enjoy the ambience of many bars and restaurants. During the summer periods you will find hand craft stalls.
The cobble streets have individual shops adorned with art. jewellery and clothes. The pebbled beach front and harbour of Altea is lined with shops, offices, bars and restaurants. A short drive to the edge of the main town you will find some smaller beaches with water sports facilities and small marinas.

Alicante airport is approximately 35-40 minutes and Valencia airport is approximately 1hr40mins. There is one main road through the centre of Altea which can sometimes get congested with traffic during peak hours but is near other main roads and the motorway.

 BENIDORM

Benidorm is one of the most popular holiday resorts in Europe. It caters for all age groups and is extremely family orientated. It is the largest town in the Costa Blanca North and attracts people of all nationalities including Spanish.
Benidorm's skyline is dominated by high rise apartments and hotels. The town has many shops, bars, restaurants and clubs to suit everyone.
The old church of San Jaime is in the heart of the old town and splits the resort into two parts. The north is the Playa Levante which is where you will find a 2km sandy beach and lively promenade of bars, clubs and shops. Playa Poniente is 3km and is on the south of the the old town. there are fewer hotels with a road separating the beach.

There are 1000's of bars with many popular clubs that attract people from all over the world. There are plenty of places that offer live music and entertainment.
For families there are 4 main attractions:

Terra Mitica - this theme park is Benidorm's top tourist attraction

Terra Natura - this is an animal park on the outskirts of Benidorm with a water park

Aquitania - this is Europe's largest water park with a variety of slides and pools to suit all age groups

Mundomar - this is a very popular theme park with the dolphin show being the main attraction

Alicante airport is 58km (35min) to Benidorm with excellent road access

 FIESTAS

Spain is renowned for having fiestas, mainly for religious reasons. They are colourful, vibrant, noisy, a little chaotic but extremely enjoyable for those taking part and for the spectators. Different fiestas take place throughout the year which is perfect for holiday makers looking to experience some of the culture of Spain. Often there are magical parades, spectacular fire work displays, music and of course all of the celebrations are revolved around drink and food.
